5 Years of Power Apps Evolution

by Skylar Menks - May 21, 2026

Over the past five years, Microsoft Power Apps has evolved from a low-code tool into something much bigger. Here’s a quick breakdown of the timeline:

2020: Platform foundation
Power Apps became part of the Power Platform, with Dataverse introduced as a central data layer and deeper integration across Microsoft tools.

2020–2023: Enterprise + AI begins
• Introduction of AI Builder for no-code AI
• Expansion of connectors and integrations
• Stronger governance and enterprise readiness

2024–2025: Better app design
• More reusable components
• Improved UI and responsive layouts
• Easier to build scalable, structured apps

2025–2026: AI-first shift
• Build apps using natural language
• Copilot + AI agents embedded in development
• Apps becoming smarter by default

Geoson has worked with Power Apps throughout these changes, consistently exploring the limits of what the platform can do. As its AI-first evolution continues, we look forward to further testing how it can deliver value for both our team and our clients.
